Martin Scorsese

As the creator of my all-time favorite film, *Goodfellas*, Martin Scorsese holds the top spot on my list. His unique perspective on cinema makes it hard not to appreciate the rawness and authenticity he brings to storytelling. While his filmography may not be the most extensive on this list, the impact of his movies on my filmmaking journey is profound. Scorsese is truly a legend in the industry.
Favourite Films: Goodfellas, Casino, Raging Bull

David Fincher

I once had a heated debate with my brother about directors. I sided with Christopher Nolan, while he fervently supported David Fincher. Over the years, I’ve come to see that Fincher is, for me, the superior director. He likely has the most impressive filmography here, spanning different genres and collaborating with top writers and composers. Fincher’s distinct, dark storytelling style makes his films unmistakable.
Favourite Films: The Social Network, Se7en, Fight Club

Quentin Tarantino

Perhaps the most recognizable name on this list, Quentin Tarantino has revolutionized filmmaking and storytelling. His masterful writing has shown me the crucial role dialogue plays in cinema. The beauty of Tarantino’s work is that if you ask ten people their favorite Tarantino film, you’ll likely get ten different answers. As a true cinephile, it’s impossible not to be captivated by Tarantino's world.
Favourite Films: Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, Reservoir Dogs

Coen Brothers

"No Country for Old Men" says it all. While their films may not appeal to everyone, I admire how the Coen Brothers construct their stories and characters. The unpredictability and simplicity of their plots are genius. Their films reveal more with each viewing, so patience and rewatching are rewarding.
Favourite Films: No Country for Old Men, Fargo, The Big Lebowski

Paul Thomas Anderson

Though it’s controversial to leave out directors like Kubrick, Spielberg, and De Palma, I have to include Paul Thomas Anderson for the inspiration he has given me. Imagine if Tarantino and Scorsese had a filmmaking prodigy—that’s PTA. His catalogue, exceptional writing, and incredible camera work make him a master of the craft. Those who know, know.
Favourite Films: Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, Hard Eight
